Dear Resident A teenager has been charged with multiple offences after a stolen motorcycle was allegedly seen being ridden antisocially in Bishop’s Stortford. The 15-year-old boy, who cannot be named for legal reasons, has been charged with aggravated vehicle taking, driving without insurance, driving otherwise than in accordance with a licence, and possession of Class C drugs. Following information from the local community about nuisance and illegal bike use in the Pig Lane area of Bishop’s Stortford, Response officers carried out patrols and spotted a motorcycle being ridden dangerously, with two males on board wearing balaclavas. Officers followed, before the rider and passenger ditched the motorcycle and ran off on foot. The motorcycle was seized by officers at the scene. Following enquiries, a male was arrested in connection with the incident on Sunday 28 June and subsequently charged. He will appear at Stevenage Youth Court on Thursday 30 July. The arrest and charge would not have been possible without members of the public reporting such activity in the local area. If you notice vehicles being driven antisocially, you can report it online via, speak to an operator in our Force Communications Room via our online web chat, or call the non-emergency number 101. Alternatively, you can stay 100 per cent anonymous by contacting the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 or via their untraceable online form. In an emergency, always dial 999.See less
